WHAT IF I DISAGREE WITH SOCIAL SECURITY’S DECISION TO SEND MY BENEFITS TO A PAYEE?
The SSA will send you a letter telling you that they have decided to pay your benefits to a payee. If you don’t agree that you need a payee, or if you want a different payee, you have 60 days to appeal their decision by sending a written appeal to the SSA Office. If you are already receiving Social Security benefits and wish to change from your current payee to Twin Ports Guardian & Payee Services, you can contact the SSA Office and speak with your current payee regarding the requested change. If everyone is in agreement, you can contact a representative at Twin Ports Guardianship & Payee Services to start the application process. This could take 30-60 days to complete. In the mean time your current payee will continue to manage your benefits.
