GUARDIANSHIP OF A ESTATE
Estate is defined as both real and personal property and includes anything that may be the subject of the ownership of the ward. When the court appoints a guardian of the estate, the guardian is generally assigned the following responsibilities:

  • Marshall and protect assets
  • Obtain appraisals of property
  • Protect property and assets from loss
  • Receive income for the estate
  • Pay bills and make appropriate disbursements
  • Obtain court approval before selling any assets
  • Annually report to the court on the accounting of the estate
